Aaron Southwell - Audiometrist - BSE (Griff ), MACAud
Aaron holds a Bachelor of Software Engineering from Griffith University and is a current member of the Australian College of Audiology. He commenced his career in the Hearing Health Care Industry back in 1987 and has worked in private practice in Brisbane, Gold Coast and the Northern Rivers, helping tens of thousands of people over this time to hear again and improve their quality of life.
Aaron has a unique skill set not only in hearing aid prescription, fitting and management but also in the manufacture and repair of assisted hearing devices. This has earned Aaron the reputation as one of the most experienced and qualified practitioners in the hearing health industry. For this reason Aaron is often sent referrals from doctors in order to troubleshoot more difficult hearing health cases. Aaron is highly approachable and easy to talk to and would love to help you with your hearing health.
Dr Caroline Aazami - Consulting Psychologist - BA(Hons) UoW , MAppPsych (UQ), PhD (UON), MAPS
My great passion is to help people to move forward with their life goals and passions whilst gaining a better understanding of their capabilities while learning effective life skills and strategies. My aim is to instil in my client healthy perceptions of themselves, gain an understanding of their symptoms and the patterns that it has created, strengthen their relationships with partners, friends and colleagues and mindfully pursue their goals and ambitions.
My training includes therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. My counselling is tailored to the needs of the person and their challenges. My education background includes a Master of Applied Psychology from University of Queensland and PhD Doctorate in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Nottingham, UK. I also have a BA (Hons.) in Social Sciences majoring in Psychology from the University of Westminster, London, UK.
Heidi Kim - Musculoskeletal and Womens Health Physiotherapist, Female - BHSc MPhty (USYD)
Heidi is a dedicated musculoskeletal Physiotherapist with special interests in Womens Health and Dancers. She graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Health Sciences and a Masters of Physiotherapy. She has extensive experience in both the public and private sector and currently works at Gold Coast University Hospital where she is a senior womens health physiotherapist working in complex pelvic pain, pre and postnatal, OASI (obstetric anal sphincter injuries) and urogynaecology clinics. She will be providing after hour physiotherapy sessions for those who wish to see someone outside of their own personal life commitments.
Heidi provides a compassionate and empowering approach in navigating her clients through the lifestages and injury. Her focus is on helping her clients understand and learn more about the power of their body, and provides a tailored plan in getting them back to the things they love. Heidi believes in movement, stemming from her ballet and dance teaching background, and brings functional rehabilitation to her pilates and exercise classes and programs.
Conditions she treats include incontinence, bladder urgency, prolapse, sexual pains, pregnancy and post natal rehabilitation. She also has a strong musculoskeletal background and treats all injuries from the neck through to the foot and finally enjoys completing thorough dance, technique and flexibility enhancement and pre-pointe assessments.
Nurses
Kristin Hughes - BN, RN
Kristin Hughes is Health HQ's clinical nurse coordinator (or nurse manager). Kristin graduated from the University of Western Sydney in 2013. After finishing her new-graduate program in 2014, she worked full time as a registered nurse on the Neurosurgical, Urology and Plastics ward at Nepean Hospital, NSW. She relocated her family to the Gold Coast in early 2018 when she joined the Health HQ team as a practice nurse. Kristin has interests in chronic disease management, care planning and health assessments.
Margie Goodwin - RN
Margie Goodwin is a registered nurse and midwife. She did her general nursing training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and her midwifery training at the Mater Mothers' Hospital in Brisbane. Margie grew up in Papua New Guinea, and after her training, she spent 20 years in western Queensland working both in hospitals and the in the community as a rural and remote area nurse. Her sea change to the Gold Coast has lead to an interest in travel health and in general practice nursing including working in a skin cancer clinic, which allows her to use her vast experience to provide great care for her patients.
Emily Meikle - BN, RN
Emily Meikle, born and bred on the Gold Coast, graduated from Griffith University Bachelor of Nursing in the top 5% of her year. Health HQ are honoured to have her on the nursing team. Emily was also selected to undertake the Graduate Nurse Program for Practice Nurses (Gold Coast Medicare Local) which is the first of its kind in Australia. She brings a high level of competence in every area of nursing that she works in at Health HQ. Emily also maintains a link with academia through her position at Griffith University updating and maintaining equipment and technology used to teach student nurses of the future. Emily Meikle also has a keen interest in wound care management and skin cancer for which the Skin HQ team are very excited.
Marilyn Vickery - BN, RN
Marilyn joins us after completing her Bachelor of Nursing in 2015.
Administration
Nicky McClelland - Practice Manager - DipPM (UNE ), MAAPM
Nicky has over 18 years experience in administration within the medical services sector. She joined the team at Health HQ in 2004 as a receptionist and progressed to head receptionist prior to being appointed as Health HQ's practice manager in 2013.
Nicky graduated with a Diploma of Practice Management from the University of New England and has also completed the Wesley Advanced Medical Receptionist Course.
Nicky performs a myriad of different day-to-day tasks that are required to keep the Health HQ office humming along smoothly. She regularly attends numerous health industry seminars and workshops to maintain the highest standards of customer service and administrative excellence.
Nicky considers the patients and practice personnel of the Health HQ medical practice as part of her family. She thrives on the camaraderie at Health HQ and has immense pride in her work.
